ברכות לכולם! מהאי
המקסים, השמשי והנעים מרקו בפלורידה, למרות שהטמפרטורות של האביב/קיץ מוקדם
היו עקביות, אין אף ציפור בר שמתרבה באזור! למעשה, מעט מאוד ציפורי בר
נראות בחצר האחורית הענקית שלי. נחשו למה ציפורי הבר אינן מתרבות? זאת
מכיוון שהאביב איננו כאן. למעשה, כולנו יודעים כי האביב בצפון אמריקה מתחיל
ב-15 לאפריל?
הטבע מתעורר בסביבות
האביב. הכול מתחיל להפוך לירוק עסיסי, פרחים צבעוניים מופיעים בכל מקום.
האספקה השופעת של מזון מהטבע מעודדת את הציפורים להתרבות.
אני הייתי באי מרקו מספר
משבועות. עד עתה לא הייתי מסוגל לשלוח הודעות. ביום שישי שעבר, ה-10,
השתחררתי מבית החולים ואתמול, בשבת ה-11, הרגשתי מעט טוב יותר. ידיד שלי
סיפר לי בדואר אלקטרוני על תערוכת ציפורים שנערכה במיאמי. לכן, נסעתי
למיאמי (מרחק של כ-160 ק"מ מהאי מרקו)ונשארתי שם במלון למשך הלילה ונהניתי
מאוד מהפעילות של כל התערוכה.
זו הייתה התערוכה השנתית
ה-25 של ארגון מגלי הציפורים בפלורידה. נאמר לי על ידי המזכיר הכללי של ה-FBBA
שלתערוכה נכנסו מעל 600 ציפורים. מספר לא רע, בהתחשב
בעובדה שבשנים האחרונות ישנה ירידה דרסטית במספר המציגים בתערוכות בצפון
אמריקה ובאזורים אחרים בעולם.
אני זוכר בבהירות את שנות
ה-80, בימים הטובים ההם, כאשר בתערוכות בצפון אמריקה היו 2000 כניסות
ויותר! תערוכות הציפורים של מיאמי זכו לעיתים למספר אלפי כניסות. למרות
שבתערוכה השנה היו 600+ ציפורים, המציגים הרבים והמבקרים גרמו לתערוכה
להראות גדולה הרבה יותר. היו בתערוכה שתי חוחיות אירופאיות שהוצגו על ידי
ידידי הטוב ד"ר ארנסטו סיבילה.
זה היה תענוג לפגוש במהלך
סוף השבוע חברים ותיקים רבים, אשר את חלקם אני מקיר למעלה מ-3 עשורים. זה
היה תענוג גם לפגושבפעם הראשונה את מר דילסון ממיאמי. בילינו שעות בשיחות
על נקודות ראות שונות, ואני מחכה לפגוש אותו שוב ולראות את הציפורים היפות
שלו.

Greetings everyone! From the beautiful sunny and pleasant
Marco Island,
Florida, although the spring/early summer temperature has been
consistent, no wild birds in the area are doing any breeding! In fact,
very few wild birds are visible in my huge backyard. Guess why the wild
birds are not breeding? That's because, the spring is not here. In
fact, we all knows that in North America, spring begins April 15th?
Around spring time, is when nature wakes up. Everything begins to look
luscious green, colorful wild and plain flowers begin to emerge
everywhere. Bontful supply of natural wild food that enduce the wild
birds to breed begins to be availeble everywere These natural
atmospheric occurrence induces the wild birds to begin their breeding
activity. In my opinion our Canaries and other similar birds do breed
better and reproduce themselves abundantly in the spring of the year!
I have been in Marco Island for a couple weeks. I have been out of whack
and I was unable to post until now. Last Friday, the 10th, I come out
from the hospital and yesterday, Saturday November 11, I felt a little
better. A friend of mine notified me by e-mail that there was a bird
show taking place in Miami. So, I drove to Miami (a distance of about
100 miles from Marco Island) and I stayed there in the same hotel over
night enjoying immensely the activity of the whole show.
It was the 25th annual show for the Florida Bird Breeder Association. I
was told by the FBBA general secretary Mr. Rudy Rodriguez. They had 600+
entries. Not a bad number of entries, considering that across North
America and some other parts of the world that for several years they
have been experiencing drastic decreases in entries.
I vividly remember in the 80's, in the good old days, when cage bird
exhibitions across North America, were the number of entries exceeded
2000 and more! Miami area cage bird exhibitions in the old days
experienced sometimes, a couple thousand entries. Even though this years
exhibitions of the FBBA had 600+ entries, the numerous exhibitors,
visitator fanciers, made the show look much bigger. In fact, a time in
the show hall during the early hours today, Sunday November 12th, there
seemed to be more bird fanciers than exhibited birds?
Across Florida I know as a fact there are hundreds and hundreds of
exotic finch breeders. I was expecting to see numerous entries of
finches and as well as numerous colorful Gouldians. It seems very
strange to me. Many of the fanciers that I spoke to stated to me that
they also breeds Gouldian and other finches. Among the 600+ birds
however, there were 2 European gold finches that have been exhibited by
my old friend of many years, Dr. Ernesto Sivilla.
It was a pleasure for me this weekend to meet many of my old friend of
nearly three decades. It also sevaral was a pleasure for me to meet for
the first time in person, an e-mail acquaintance Mr. Dilson of Miami. I
spent a couple hours conversing with Mr. Dilson and both of us enjoy
point of views. I am lookpng forward to visit with Mr. Dilson agan in
the near future and also view his great collection of birds.
I appreciate very much all of the posting that all of you have done
during my absence, to maintain the groups active and educational. Keep
on helping and keep on posting.
