תודה רבה לכל חברי ועמיתי
המגדלים שהמשיכו ושלחו הודעות ושמרו על הקבוצות פעילות ולימודיות.
היו לי מספר בעיות אישיות
שמנעו ממנו מלהשתתף בפורומים. אני משתדל לעשות את המיטב שביכולתי תחת
הנסיבות הקיימות.
למרות מזג האוויר המתון,
דמוי האביב, שאנו חווים כאן בדרום מערב פלורידה, בחצר האחורית הענקית
שלי/מסלול הגולף, עם הרבה עצים בכל הגדלים, וגם צמחייה שופעת, אין לראות כל
ציפור בר! כנראה שכל הציפורים נמצאות בדרום הרחק, ממתינות לבוא האביב?
באופן מוחלט בהחלט, מרבית
הציפורים אוכלות הזרעים שלי, בחדר הגידול הענק שלי בניו-ג'רסי, מדינת הגנים
(עם טמפרטורת קיפאון עמוק של
14- (מינוס 14) מעלות צלזיוס),
נחות ואוגרות מינרלים וחומרים מזינים אחרים אשר יידרשו בעונת הריבוי (כאשר
האביב ישוב לבסוף)!
דיברתי בטלפון עם מגדלים
רבים בניו-ג'רסי ואזורים קרים אחרים; כולם טוענים שהייתה להם עונת ריבוי
נוראית. רובם טוענים לריבוי ביצים שקופות (לא פוריות). הביצים הבודדות
שבקעו, לא הואכלו כראוי על ידי ההורים. במהלך שיחת הטלפון, ביקשתי מרבים
מהם להציץ החוצה ולראות האם יש דרורים, או ציפורים אחרות, המפגינות פעילות
הקשורה לריבוי. אחד מחברי בניו ג'רסי צעק "בחוץ 14- מעלות!
הערתי לו "הקנריות שלך
ושאר מיני הקרדוליאנים בחדר הציפורים הקריר/קר, יודעות גם הן שזהו זמן זה
של השנה, ויודעות שבתקופה זו נחים ולא מתרבים!" הציפורים אמורות להתרבות
באביב, צריך לתת להן לשמר את האינסטינקטים הטבעיים שלהן.
ידיד אחר התלונן באוזני שהוא ניסה להוציא
בנדוקים (הצלבה בין חוחית אירופאית לקנר). הוא התחיל בדצמבר. לעת עתה היו
לו שלושה קינים של ביצים שקופות. אני תוהה מדוע? (באופן אישי אני לא אנסה
להצליב איזה שהם שני מינים של ציפורים). קנרים ניתנים לריבוי בכל עונה של
השנה על ידי כיוונון מתאים של התאורה, אך לא חוחיות אירופאיות, לפי ניסיוני
האישי; הן נכנסות לריבוי בצפון אמריקה לא מוקדם ממאי. מדוע לבזבז זמן והרבה
ביצים שקופות?
בסביבה נעימה ומוארת היטב, גולדנים ומיני
פינקים אחרים אשר מתרבים בחודשי החורף שלנו, בכל מיקרה יכולים לחוות ריבוי
סביר, אבל לפי ניסיוני האישי, הגולדנים ופינקים נוספים יתרבו טוב יותר
בחודשי הקיץ החמים.
חדר הציפורים שלי בניו ג'רסי מסתמך בימים
חמים ובהירים רק על אור שמש טיבעי. בימים קודרים ומעוננים האורות נדלקים ב-7:30
בבוקר וכבים ב-5 אחה"צ. הטמפרטורה בחדר היא 19-20 מעלות נעימות.
ולכל הציפורים יש בכל זמן את תערובת הזרעים המתאימה. מים נקיים לשתייה
ומקלחת ניתנים כמעט מדי יום. מדי 14 יום העוזר שלי מרסס את החדר נגד
מזיקים. ידידי - זכרו כחי טפילים נמצאים בכל בית גידול. אסור לנו לתת להם
להשתלט על חדר הגידול. ריבוי מזיקים יפגע בריבוי ובבריאות הציפורים.
כל הציפורים שלי, במהלך תקופת המנוחה,
מקבלות לפחות פעמיים בשבוע ירקות ירוקים ועלים, כמות קטנה מאוד של מזון
גוזלים, וזרעים מושרים כראוי. אנו מוודאים כי לציפורים יש תמיד עצם דיונון
(סבידה) ותערובת מינרלים. פעמיים שלוש בשבוע, ויטמין E
מעודד את הפוריות בעונת הריבוי, ופרוביוטיקה, לשמור על מערכת העיכול
שלהם במצב מושלם.
ידידי דילסון אומר לי בטלפון, שהקנריות
שלו, במיאמי, מתרבות במלא הקצב, על ידי מתן כופתיות אליהן הוא הוסיף שמן
דקלים אדום. וואו, זה מדהים; אני וצה לבקר אותו מוקדם ככל האפשר, אולי אני
אקבל השראה מהדרך בה הוא מאכיל את הציפורים אוכלות הזרעים שלו.
הידידה שלנו שרון מור מניו המפשייר, איבדה
את החשמל בביתה ובחדר הגידול שלה למשך מספר ימים. הציפורים נותרו בחשיכה
ובקור למשך מספר ימים. למרות זאת, זוג של פינקים מזמרים ירוקים שהיו להם
שלוש ביצים, המשיך לדגור והביצים בקעו והגוזלים הואכלו כראוי על ידי הנקבה.

A Big thanks to all my friends and fellow
fancier that have keep on posting in the
groups in order to maintain them active and
educational.
I have been having my share of personal
problems that curtail my participation in
posting. I am trying to do the best that I can
under the circumstances.
Despite the mild, spring like weather
that we are having here in south west Florida, in my huge back yard/Golf
Course, with lot of trees of all sizes, also lot of lushes vegetation,
no wild birds are visible anywhere! Obviously, all birds they are
wondering far way south, awaiting for the approaching of the spring?
Most definitively, the majority of my
seed eating birds, in my huge bird room in New Jersey, the Garden State
(with a deep freezing temperature of 06 degree F.), are resting and
accumulating mineral and other nutrients that their biological systems
requires during the breeding season, ( when the Spring eventually
arriving)!.
I spoke via telephone, with many fellow
fanciers, friends in New Jersey and in other cold winter time areas; all
claims of having a terrible breeding season. Most of every one, laments
of experiencing lot of clear eggs. The very few eggs that hatched, the
parent canaries fail to feed them. During the phone conversations, I ask
many of them to look outdoor and see if any sparrow, or others wild
birds are breeding or at list displaying breeding activity. One of my
friends in New Jersey, shouts, "it is 6 degrees outside!'
I remark to him, "Your canaries and all
your Carduelian finches, in your cool/cold bird room, also knows that at
this time of the year, is winter months, and most of the seed eating
birds, also knows that they should be resting and not laying clear
eggs!" Birds that are supposed to be breeding in the spring, they should
be allowed to retain their natural instincts.
Another friend, lament to me that he
been trying to produce European Goldfinch X Canary cross. He starts in
December. E so far he has experience three nest of clear eggs. I wonder
why? (I Personally, will not intentionally cross breed any species of
birds) Lots of clear eggs, is experiencing, in the attempting to produce
mules. Canaries, in the right environment conditions with extended
artificial light, can be push to go in to breeding mood at any time pf
the year, not European Goldfinches, accordingly with my personal
experience; they go in the breeding mood in North America not early then
the end of May. Why wasting time and lot of clear eggs too?
In a comfortable well light environment,
Gouldian finches and other similar species of birds that usually breeds
during our winter months, any one, may be able to experience a fair
breeding results, however in my personal experiences, my Gouldian and
others similar birds, breed for me better during the warmer months,
including July and August and September too.
My bird room in New Jersey, on clear,
sunny days, is completely on natural day light, on every, gloomy cloudy
days, the artificial light will go on 7:30 AM and completely off at 5
PM. The room temperature is set to a conformable 66 to 68 degree F. All
of my birds have before them at all the times, the proper seed diet.
Fresh clean water for drinking and bathing is supplied to them, almost
every day. My helpers are instructs to spray the bird room and birds,
every 14 days, using a Pyrethrum/ Petroleum base spray. Misting, all
birds with a very fine mist from a distance of about 36 inches. My
friend, remember that avian parasites are present in every birds room.
We should not allow the avian parasite to get out control in any bird
room. Heavy infestation of all avian critter can and will devastated the
breeding season and all the captive birds' health in general.
All my birds, during the resting
periods, receive at list, two times per week, a small amount of dark
greens or fruits, and a very small amount of nestling food, mix with
properly prepared, soak seed. We make sure that's all the birds, have
before them, at all the times, fresh cuttlebones and well composed
Mineral grit. Two or three times per week, we supply all birds, vitamin
E to stimulated fertility for the approaching breeding season, and
Probiotic, to keep their digestive system in perfect functional
conditions.
My friend Dilson tells me by phone, that
his canaries, in Miami, they are breeding their heart out, by just
feeding pellets to which he blended with Red Palm Oil. Wow, it is
amazing; I want to go visit him as soon as possible, maybe I will get
inspired by his methods of feeding his seed eating birds.
Our friend Sharon Moore of New
Hampshire, several days go, lost the electricity in her house and in her
bird room as well for several days, the birds, remain almost in a
complete darkness and in a very frigid cold temperature for several
days. A pair of green singing finches that had 3 eggs before the lost of
the electricity, as result, Mrs. Moore was certain that the eggs were
lost because of the freezing and dark condition in her bird room. Well,
a couple of days ago, Mrs. Moore, called me on the phone very excited
and, happy, telling me that the 3 Singing finches eggs hatched and the
female was feeding them beautifully. Congratulations and good luck to
you Mrs. Moore!
